Abstract

It explores how democracy is practiced. As goal attainment is central to democracy polity, it then discusses the process of policy making and the role of pillars of democracy in bringing about checks and balances. This discussion is very important to understand the problems in the transnational polity. In any democratic set up, power defines the relations and hence in the remainder part of the essay focuses how various participants in the transnational democratic process derives power. In particular, it places emphasis on military and economic power. The paper ends with some concluding remarks.
