Abstract

Conventional scholars apply democracy to nation states. A few scholars would argue that democracy need not be limited to nation states. This is proved by the emergence of new field of study called transnational democracy. Robert Dahl has argued that democracy, applied to nation states, cannot be found in international organizations and institutions that represent transnational democracy.1 Democracy can be applied not only to governments but also to associations and institutes involving participation of the people.
