Abstract

The paper explores how democracy is practiced. As goal attainment is central to democracy polity, it then discusses the process of policy making and the role of pillars of democracy in bringing about checks and balances. In any democratic set up, power defines the relations and hence in the remainder part of the essay focuses how various participants in the democratic process derives power. The essay ends with some concluding remarks.
